Malvern Cube came alive as Do It Again Dan delivered a thrilling tribute to Steely Dan, capturing the essence of jazz-rock mastery with electrifying precision. The packed audience erupted in applause as the band seamlessly recreated the intricate sound that made Walter Becker and Donald Fagen's music timeless.
Led by Dave Hutber on keys, the 13-piece ensemble wasn't merely playing covers- they embodied Steely Dan's spirit. John Hutber's mesmerising guitar solos, Paul Arthurs' dynamic drumming and Graham Niblett's rock solid bass built an immersive experience. Ryan Kelford on rhythm guitar and front man Eddie Paisley's nuanced vocals brought depth while backing vocalists Zoe Hutber, whose Dirty Work solo was a highlight, Sarah Roberts and Gwen Woodfield added warmth and texture. A four-piece horn section, led by Robin Miller, Maks Dmytruk, Mike Halliday and Dave Whittle, rounded out the ensemble with soaring arrangements.
The setlist thrilled fans, spanning classics like Rikki Don't Lose That Number and Reelin' in the Years as well as deeper cuts like Aja, Black Friday and Bodhisattva, all delivered with remarkable authenticity.
The energy in the theatre was palpable, leaving the audience in awe of one of the finest tribute performances.

"Just this second come back from the gig and I'm still blown away – yes BLOWN AWAY by the experience. What you've organised is miraculous and is possibly the most exciting band I've ever seen live. I mean it; the gig was surreal! Great rhythm section, great singers, horns, arrangements – everything was bang on. I won't sleep for a week now."– 'Stunned' of Malvern (local drummer)
Something special in Upton on Saturday 29th October..! Do it Again Dan will present the laid back, jazzy West Coast music of Steely Dan at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, starting at 7.30pm.
13 super players from Malvern and across the West Midlands have performed to rave reviews in the past year or so. The project was a dream for Dave and John, realised over lockdown, and true to the spirit and the music of Steely Dan. Upton Jazz are happy to support these great people.

"Do It Again Dan pulled another blinder with a display of musical professionalism and vibrancy unsurpassed. I had the most amazing time watching and listening to the UK’s best Steely Dan tribute band. What a treat! Do, once more, pass my thanks and appreciation to your band for bringing their ‘A’ game to Malvern. Polished, rehearsed, yet feeling fresh and exciting. A band that loves what they do and love playing for their fans." – Worcestershire musician

Thanks for an absolutely stunning concert at The Cube on Saturday evening. We were swept away by every aspect of the band. We will definitely come back for more and be spreading the word!

Just returned home from seeing you perform at the Cube in Malvern tonight. You were simply brilliant. Instruments and singers together make a great sound and truly as enjoyable as when I watched the original Steely Dan band some years ago. Thank you.
